Q : What are the dosing instructions?
A : Just add one scoop (1/32tsp) in your pet's water dish (up to 64oz or 1/2 gallon of water)... so whatever amount that is per day. If they go through multiple bowls of water, feel free to top it off before all the water is gone. Again, a little goes a long way and, so long as there's some Protektin in their water bowl, the formula will still do its job.
Multiple Pet home? Fill a 1/2 gallon (1 scoop) or gallon (2 scoops) pitcher with water, keep it in the refrigerator to top off water dishes throughout the day.
Feel free to adjust your dosage as you go. The great news is that you can't over dose your pet. YES, TEEF is THAT safe.

Q : My pet doesn't drink much water, can I add it to food?
A : You can, however, although it is preferred to add it to drinking water, you can also add it to food, a lick pad, a water bottle, treat, or anything your pet puts in their mouth. The key to success is frequent dosing throughout the day you you may want to try a few different dosing methods. That way our ingredients coat the mouth often to consistently improve the oral microbiome for better oral health.

Q : What if I feed my dog a raw diet?
A : Most pets on a raw diet don’t drink much water. We recommend splitting any added water on their food 50/50 with TEEF. If you can also add it to their water for when they DO take a quick drink, that will help too. Otherwise, there are plenty of other ways to dose your pet. Q : I'm noticing that my pet has looser stools when using TEEF
A : Vitamin B6 plays a crucial role in promoting your pet's overall well-being by supporting the health of their skin, coat, cognitive function, as well as heart and digestive health. When your pet lacks sufficient B6 in their diet, introducing additional levels of the vitamin may initially lead to loose stools or even diarrhea. This is a natural response as the body strives to readjust and establish healthy levels in your pet's gut microbiome. If these symptoms persist for more than 2-3 days, underlying health issues such as IBD, parasites like worms or giardia, or an imbalanced intestinal flora could be contributing factors.

Q : I have a multiple pet home, how should I dose?
A : Here’s a trick you can do to maximize your supply:
Many people have a multiple pet home with multiple water dishes. We recommend making a batch/pitcher with a few scoops of Protektin in it and keep it in the refrigerator to use for topping off water dishes throughout the day. Try not to keep the pitcher for more than 3 days though, as there aren’t any preservatives in our formulations. And fresh, filtered water is always ideal in a nice clean bowl.

A : You bet! We’re treating the bacteria in your pet’s mouth, not your pet. That’s the science behind our product. Our ingredients dissolve rapidly, no matter the amount. Q : Is it safe for puppies and kittens?

Q : Does it just keep tartar from forming or get rid of the tartar currently on their teeth?
A : We discovered our tartar-removal effect in our studies, which means that when we block gum disease-associated bacteria, like Porphyromonas gingivalis and Streptococcus, from eating sugars and carbs, they start to mine plaque and tartar on teeth for those preferred nutrients. Literally making the bacteria function like a microbial toothbrush!
We do have tartar case studies that shows a significant reduction in existing tartar. Though, we don’t specifically focus on tartar because it is not directly related to gum disease. It is only correlated due to it being an effect of oral dysbiosis – a microbial imbalance. We are focused on stopping dysbiosis, the root cause of dental disease. Our technology inhibits destructive plaque production and grows beneficial plaque (yes, there’s such a thing), therefore we are performing a new line of studies focused on our discovery to better understand the underlying mechanisms.
Q : What should I do if my pet isn't drinking their TEEF water?
A : Although it’s rare that pets drink less water when Protektin is added, it’s very important to keep them hydrated. If there is some avoidance, we recommend scaling back on the amount you’re adding to water and observing if there are still any issues. To be safe, put out a second water dish without our product and observe.

Q : Will the sodium bicarbonate in Protektin42™ negatively affect pets with cardiovascular disease?
A : The amount of sodium bicarbonate in a dose of Protektin42 is approx. 3mg, which is an extremely tiny amount of a pet's daily intake, so it is very unlikely to negatively impact your pet.
In determining total sodium per day for your pet (dog-specific): drinking tap water contributes ~10% of daily sodium intake. Hill’s Ideal Balance dog food (chicken) has 66 mg/100kCal of sodium. Adding up total dietary sodium intake means that the amount of additional sodium added by Protektin42 turns out to be ~2-3% additional sodium to the dog’s diet per day.

A : Yes! Our Protektin formulations contain Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) ingredients by the FDA and have been tested for safety in pregnant humans and animals for over 40 years.
