Collect and Send Samples Guide
Overview:
- Purchase the test kit via our website.
- You will receive the kit within 3-4 working days.
- Register your test kit code at AnimalBiome's Pet Portal
- Collect your poo samples and put into the Sample Tubes.
- Place the Sample Tubes into the plastic bag with absorbent sheet
- Place the plastic bag into the provided Bubble Mailer bag then into the (Grey/white) mailer bag provided.
- If you have chosen to send the samples back to USA Yourself, Make arrangements with your own preferred courier vendor or follow our VPost (Singpost) sending instructions in another tab and send it to the address given.
- If you have chosen to send the samples back to USA via our FedEx services, Place your Grey mailer bag into the provided FedEx envelope. And click here to schedule for your FedEx pickup.
- Upon receiving your samples in USA, the results will be sent to you via email within 2-3 weeks.
- Access your dog’s report via AnimalBiome online Pet Portal.

How to collect your pet's poo?
For best results, AnimalBiome recommend discontinuing probiotics for 24hrs before collecting a poo sample.
Step 1 :
- Collect a fresh stool sample (within 4 hours of elimination or first thing in the morning for cats).
Step 2 :
- Gather sampling supplies.
- Uncap both sample tubes. Becareful not to spill the clear liquid inside the sample tubs.
- Place both tubes into the tube-stabilizing holes inside the box.
- Open one package of swabs and the wrapped wooden stick.
Step 3 :
- Put on the gloves.
- Break open the poop with the wooden stick to expose the center which has not been contaminated by dirt or other particles.
- Take one swab and scoop a pea-sizes piece of poop from the inner section and place into the tube.
- Ensure that the stool is covered completely by the liquid.
- Carefully screw the cap back on.
- Ensure the tube is sealed tightly to prevent leakage.
- Repeat the same procedure for the other tube using the second swab.
- If your animal has very soft poop or diarrhea, dip the swab tip into the poop and ensure the entire swab tip is completely covered.
- If you animal has very hard poop, use the swab or stick to transfer the sample.
- If your animal's poop is too soft to break open with the stick, you can dip the swab directly into the sample. Do your best to avoid any contaminants.
- For very soft poop or diarrhea, swirl the swab tip in the liquid to transfer as much material as possible. The liquid should change color.
Step 4 :
- Register your sample by creating an account with your animal's profile at app.animalbiome.com
- Place the sample tube inside the clear plastic bag with white absorbent sheet.
- Place the bagged samples tubes into the smaller bubble mailer and seal it.
- Place the sealed bubble mailer into the provided (white/grey) mailer bag.
How to send your samples from Singapore?
- If you have chosen to send the samples back to USA Yourself, Look for your preferred courier vendor to send the samples back to USA with the address given below.
- Or you may option to use VPost (Singpost) International registered service which cost only SGD$11.90 which is the cheapest route that we could recommend.

Q : What is fecal microbiome testing and what are the benefits?
A : Fecal microbiome testing is the process of sequencing bacterial DNA material from a small fecal sample. AnimalBiome can detect all known bacteria from your dog's and cat’s stool sample and then provide you with a comprehensive report.
Testing a dog's and cat’s microbiome provides insights into their health. Then imbalances in specific gut bacteria can be addressed to help alleviate such symptoms as diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and itchy skin that may be associated with some chronic health conditions.
Q : How fresh does the poop sample need to be for analysis?
A : For dogs, AnimalBiome recommend collecting a sample as soon as your dog poops, picking it up in a bag, and bringing it to your sampling area right away. For cats, the sample should be less than 4 hours old.
Q : Do I need to discontinue supplements or medications before taking a poop sample for analysis?
A : When possible, AnimalBiome recommend discontinuing antibiotics and probiotics at least 24 hours before taking a poop sample for analysis.
Q : My pet is having diarrhea. Can I still send a poop sample for analysis?
A : Yes. AnimalBiome test has been carefully optimized to account for loose stool or diarrhea. When you collect the sample, try to cover as much of the swab tip as you can, and be sure to break off the swab tip and leave it inside the tube.
Q : What if my sample includes dirt or other contaminants?
A : It is okay if you are not able to collect a sample that is completely free of dirt or other environmental particles, but cleaner samples can be processed more quickly. Just try your best!
Q : What if my cat's sample contains litter?
A : It is okay if you are not able to collect a sample that is completely free of litter particles, but cleaner samples can be processed more quickly. Just try your best!
Q : What beneficial bacteria does the Gut Health Test Screen for and what makes them 'beneficial'?
A : The Gut Health Test can detect:

A : The Gut Health Test looks specifically at the bacterial microbiome, which does not include parasites like Giardia, hookworms, or roundworms.
Q : Will this test tell me what foods my dog and cat is allergic to?
A : The Gut Health Test looks at the bacteria present in the microbiome, which will not provide information on food allergies or intolerances. To find out about food intolerances, please consider our Pet Intolerance Test instead.
Q : How do i resgister my sample?
A : Go to app.animalbiome.com to create an account, and complete your dog's or cat’s Pet Profile.
Select “Register Sample” at the top of the page. Enter the six-character ID code listed on the front of your instruction guide.
Please note that your sample must be registered in order for AnimalBiome scientists to complete the analysis.
Q : Where do I find my pet’s sample ID code?
A : The sample ID code can be found in two locations: first, it is printed on the sample tubes themselves; alternatively, it can be found on the front cover of the provided instruction booklet.
What if my pet’s sample ID is not accepted?
If your pet’s sample ID is not accepted, first please double-check the ID code on the sample tube. If the ID is correct, please contact AnimalBiome so that they can identify the problem. Emailing them at team@animalbiome.com is generally the quickest way to get in touch.
Q : Is my sample safe in the mail?
A : Yes, your sample is safe. The sample tubes contain a special liquid that keeps the bacteria perfectly preserved for analysis, across a very wide range of temperatures. Once inside the tube, the sample is safe for several months.
Q : When will i receive my results?
A : You can expect to receive your results about 2-3 weeks after the sample arrives at AnimalBiome lab.
Q : I need help in sending my samples back to USA, can you help me send it back to USA?
A : Yes we can, you just need to purchase our FedEx For Me option.
Q : I have multiple pets in my household, do i have to purchase multiple FedEx For Me for individual pets?
A : No need, our FedEx courier is based on single address single trip. So if you have multiple pets in your household, you just need to purchase the number of kits required under SHIP MYSELF option and purchase our FedEx Add-On Service as an additional add-on. In this manner, you just need to pay for 1 (one) time courier fee only.

A : If you have two dogs or cats or multiple dogs or cats in your household, i recommend you to purchase the Double kits in Standard package and purchase our FedEx courier service as an additional add-on. In this manner, you just need to pay for 1 (one) time shipping fee only instead of multiple Expedited packages. This will allow you to have savings. Q : Do you recommend re-testing, and how often should it be done?
A : Since gut health may change due to time, over-exposure to medications, envrionment toxins exposure and more, depending what work you have put into repairing and maintaince of the gut, it may prove beneficial to opt for another kit on a yearly basis. However if there isn't any much issues on-going you could do it every 2yrs instead just to monitor the gut health in general.
Q : How long does the process take from the day i place my order to the day i receive my results if i purchase FedEx For Me option?

Q : Can i interpret the results myself without going through any review session?
A : We do not recommend on interpreting the results by yourself or by someone who is not trained to do so. The test results is more than what it seems and it will help you understand better with a trained consultant. Q : How do you determine that my animal is healthy or not healthy? How are are the results being reference based with?
A : AnimalBiome Healthy Reference Set. AnimalBiome has built the world’s largest database of cat and dog microbiome samples. So far, they have collected and analyzed more than 30,000 fecal samples from domestic cats and dogs. Out of those, they’ve assembled a group of samples that meet their criteria for healthy pets.
By studying those healthy samples, AnimalBiome were able to build a profile of the specific bacterial taxa (groups) AnimalBiome could expect to find in the gut microbiome of a healthy cat or dog. AnimalBiome identified a “healthy reference set” consisting of 22 taxa that make up the core microbiome of cats and 17 taxa that make up the core microbiome of dogs.

- This delivery option is not limited to just frozen items, however, if there are frozen items in the same order, it will be processed based on frozen item delivery.
- Frozen items could enjoy FREE scheduled delivery (Sat-Sun) with orders $100 and above.
- Orders cut-off time applicable for FREE scheduled delivery (Sat-Sun) is 6pm previous day.
- Orders made by Fri 6pm will be delivered on Sat-Sun at your selected date and time slots.
- Orders made by Sat 6pm will be delivered on Sun at your selected time slots.
- Frozen items will be delivered via Lalamove at a schedule day and time slots. Scheduled days are Sat and Sun between 9-1pm, 1-5pm or 5-9pm time slots.
- The 9-1pm, 1-5pm or 5-9pm time frame means the delivery will happen anytime between 9-1pm, 1-5pm or 5-9pm as per your selection upon checkout.

- Non-frozen items to Malaysia will be delivered via FedEx within 4 working days.
- Please note that our delivery vendor will attempt to reach you at the contact number that you've submitted. If no one is present or uncontactable for further instructions, your package will be left at the riser, door, gate, or security. If other arrangements are preferred, please leave us a remark or contact us before your package is dispatched.

Other International Orders (Non-frozen items via various couriers)
- Non-frozen items to Worldwide will be delivered via various couriers within 15 working days.
- To know the exact delivery duration, kindly email us your address with postal code and we will get back to you soonest possible.

Return Policy
Generally, all our products are strictly non-refundable nor exchangeable.
However, in the event you received an incorrect or defective item, or any other valid reason that you can't enjoy your purchase, we will provide a refund or an exchange, case by case basis.
All we ask is that when the item is returned, it should meet the following requirements:
- Reach out to us to arrange an appointment to drop off your item at 80 Changi Road, Centropod@Changi #02-48, Singapore 419715.
- Item returned should be in their original & sealed packaging. Broken seals will not be accepted, unless there's a valid reason, based on case by case basis.
- Please ensure at least 6 months of shelf life if it's a perishable item.
- Send us your order confirmation email for refund verification.
Items not eligible for returns:
- Food related, wearables, beds and carriers due to food safety & hygiene reasons.
- Items that are purchased from promotional pricing from all of our sales channels.
- Customers who had a history of returning more than 3 items.
When we receive the refunded/exchange item, we will review the condition of the item, and reach out to you to confirm and issue a refund/exchange within 7 working days. We regret that customers who decline to respect our policy will be ineligible for exchange, returns and refunds.
Do also note that if we find that a product has been intentionally damaged or tampered with, refunds will not be offered.
