The 4-Legger Story
How One Woman’s Journey Made the Dog Grooming Industry Safer
Welcome to 4-Legger — where our mission began with love, loss, and a promise to make pet care truly safe.
I’m Melissa, founder of 4-Legger. My journey began when my dog Henry Clay was diagnosed with cancer. To help him heal, we began eliminating environmental toxins from our lives — starting with his grooming products. We trusted shampoo bottles that claimed to be “all natural” and “organic,” but later learned these words have no regulatory meaning in the dog grooming industry.
Even products filled with harmful ingredients — linked to allergies, hormone disruption, dry skin, and even cancer — can legally be marketed as “natural.” When I was later diagnosed with breast cancer myself, the truth became painfully clear: we had been misled. The pet grooming industry needed change.
So, we set out to create a truly organic, chemical-free alternative. Every 4-Legger product is free from synthetic chemicals, independently reviewed, and certified to meet the highest USDA organic standards — the same used for food.
We believe “natural” and “organic” should mean safe, pure, and non-toxic.
How Canine Cancer Changed Our Lives?
When Henry Clay got cancer in 2009, it was the beginning of a life-changing journey.
-
2009: Henry Clay diagnosed with penile cancer caused by toxins. Despite surgeries, the cancer spread to his brain stem. He was given months to live but fought for 13 more.
-
2013: On the day Henry Clay passed, I was diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.
-
2014: During chemotherapy, my dogs developed dry, flaky skin from frequent baths with so-called “natural” shampoos. Research revealed the shocking truth: dog shampoos aren’t regulated by the FDA.
-
2015: We decided to change the industry by creating a truly organic dog shampoo. Our first product, Lemongrass & Aloe, was launched the same week I finished chemotherapy.
-
2017: 4-Legger released the first aloe-based USDA Certified Organic Dog Shampoo, with the USDA seal on every bottle — proof that our formulas are genuinely natural and safe.
Our mission is to make the grooming industry safer — one clean ingredient at a time. Every bottle is a tribute to Henry Clay, whose story inspires everything we do.
We’re confident you’ll love 4-Legger. That’s why we offer the Wagging Tail Guarantee: If you don’t like it, you get your money back — simple as that.

4-Legger’s Promise
Products You Feel Good About USing on Your Best Friend
Many manufacturers claim that trace toxins don’t matter — that their levels are “too low to harm.” Meanwhile, the rates of cancer, hormone disruption, and chronic disease in pets continue to rise.
Having lost a dog to cancer, we believe any amount of synthetic chemicals is too much when safe, effective alternatives exist.
We can’t change the fact that dog-grooming products are unregulated — but we can change the industry itself, one healthy bath at a time.
Why Certified Organic Matters
Certified organic grooming products face far stricter scrutiny. We created the world’s first aloe-based USDA Organic Dog Shampoo so pet parents could see the USDA seal and know, without question, our formulas are truly natural and non-toxic.
Our ingredients are chosen for sustainability and ethical harvesting. Each is reviewed from soil to shelf — how it’s grown, processed, packaged, and shipped. All 4-Legger products are made in the USA in small batches to ensure exceptional quality.
Certified organic means no GMOs, no pesticides, no herbicides, no artificial colors or fragrances. Only real, plant-based ingredients touch your dog’s skin.

Facts About Canine Cancer
We lost Henry Clay to cancer caused by environmental toxins. Research shows that 95 % of canine cancers are toxin-related. Reducing exposure is the simplest way to protect your pet.
From food to flea treatments, vaccines, and grooming products — every choice matters. Removing harmful ingredients from your dog’s bath is an easy, powerful step toward health.
A Few Facts About Your Dog’s Skin and Coat
-
The Largest Organ Needs Protection: A dog’s epidermis is only 3–5 cells thick (compared to 10–15 in humans). Their skin absorbs far more.
-
Hair and Coat Function: They regulate temperature and shield the skin.
-
Natural Oils Matter: Sebaceous glands keep skin hydrated; harsh detergents block them.
-
Human Shampoo Is Unsafe: Dog pH ≈ 7.4 – 7.5 (more basic); human pH ≈ 4.8 – 5.5 (more acidic).
-
Healthy Coat = Healthy Dog: Diet, hormones, and proper grooming all play roles.
Bottom Line: Ingredients matter. Safe, non-toxic grooming protects your dog from irritation, endocrine disruption, and long-term illness.
Ingredients We Refuse to Use
In 2014 we created a permanent “Never List” — ingredients that will never appear in any 4-Legger product.
Artificial Colors (D&C, FD&C dyes) – linked to cancer.
Ethanolamines (DEA, MEA, TEA) – hormone disruptors and organ toxins.
Cocamidopropyl Betaine – synthetic surfactant tied to dermatitis.
Dimethicone – causes organ-system toxicity.
Tetrasodium EDTA – enhances chemical absorption through skin.
Formaldehyde Releasers (DMDM Hydantoin, Quaternium-15) – known carcinogens.
Artificial Fragrance – neurotoxins and immune suppressants.
Isopropyl Alcohol – dries and irritates skin; toxic to liver and nerves.
Methylisothiazolinone / MCI – preservatives causing allergic and neurotoxic reactions.
Parabens – endocrine disruptors linked to hormone-related cancers.
Mineral Oil – petroleum by-product that blocks natural detoxification.
Phthalates – hormone disruptors, banned in children’s toys.
Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) – associated with cancer and nutrient malabsorption.
Polysorbates (20, 80) – often contaminated with 1,4-dioxane.
Propylene Glycol – skin irritant and liver/kidney toxin.
Sulfates (SLS, SLES, ALS) – cause irritation and may contain 1,4-dioxane.
What “Clean” Really Means
At 4-Legger, “clean” is not a trend — it’s our promise.
We formulate our grooming products with certified organic, cruelty-free, and sustainably sourced ingredients. Each formula is made in a solar-powered facility and packaged using eco-conscious materials to reduce environmental impact.
We believe transparency builds trust, which is why our products are certified to the same organic standards as human food — a level unmatched in the pet care industry.
Every single ingredient is chosen for its safety, function, and purpose — never to fill space or enhance marketing claims.
Our Ingredient Philosophy
Every 4-Legger product starts with a base of organic aloe vera, chosen for its incredible skin-healing, hydrating, and anti-inflammatory benefits. From there, we build each formula using plant-based oils and botanicals that work together to cleanse, nourish, and protect your dog’s coat and skin.
Our Core Ingredients
-
Organic Aloe Vera: Deeply hydrates while soothing dry, irritated skin.
-
Organic Coconut Oil: Gently cleanses, moisturizes, and strengthens the coat.
-
Olive Oil & Shea Butter: Restore natural softness and elasticity.
-
Jojoba & Sunflower Oil: Balance sebum production and bring out shine.
-
Rosemary Extract: Acts as a natural antioxidant and preservative.
No sulfates. No parabens. No synthetic fragrances.
Only pure, biodegradable ingredients your dog — and the planet — can trust.
Our Organic Shampoos
Every coat, every skin type, and every dog is different.
That’s why we created a range of certified organic shampoos designed to meet specific needs — all made from natural plant extracts and essential oils.
1. Lemongrass & Aloe Organic Dog Shampoo
Our first and most popular formula — this USDA Certified Organic shampoo cleans deeply without stripping natural oils. Lemongrass acts as a natural cleanser and deodorizer, while Aloe soothes and hydrates. Ideal for dogs with normal to oily skin, this blend leaves coats fresh, soft, and naturally glossy.
2. Lavender & Aloe Organic Dog Shampoo
Perfect for dogs with sensitive skin or allergies. Lavender and calendula work together to calm irritation and reduce inflammation. The light floral aroma also provides a calming experience — turning bath time into a soothing ritual.
3. Neem & Sweet Orange Organic Dog Shampoo
Neem is nature’s most powerful antifungal and antibacterial ingredient. Combined with sweet orange oil, this shampoo supports healing from hot spots, dandruff, and itchiness while leaving a bright citrus scent. Ideal for dogs prone to skin issues or outdoor exposure.
4. Tea Tree & Peppermint Organic Dog Shampoo
Designed for dogs that need a deep refresh. Tea tree, eucalyptus, and peppermint purify the skin, reduce odor, and bring a cooling sensation. This blend revitalizes dull coats and helps control bacterial buildup — excellent for humid climates or active pets.
Organic Apple Cider Vinegar Conditioner
Our conditioner is not your average rinse — it’s a therapeutic apple cider vinegar blend designed to rebalance your dog’s natural skin pH and remove buildup from traditional grooming products.
Infused with organic lemongrass, orange, and ylang-ylang oils, it restores shine, softness, and detangles without synthetic silicones or waxes.
Regular use strengthens the coat, reduces itchiness, and naturally repels fleas and ticks — leaving your dog’s skin clean, calm, and resilient.
Healing Balm for Paws and Nose
Dry skin and cracked paws are painful — and common.
Our USDA Certified Organic Healing Balm was created to protect, repair, and soothe even the roughest skin.
Made with organic hemp seed oil, calendula extract, and vitamin E, it melts quickly into the skin to lock in moisture without leaving greasy residue.
Use daily on paws, elbows, and noses for natural protection against weather, salt, and rough surfaces. Safe if licked — because every ingredient is 100% edible.
Deodorizing Sprays
Keep your dog’s coat fresh between baths with our line of organic, water-based deodorizing sprays.
Each mist is crafted with essential oils to gently neutralize odor, add shine, and provide emotional balance through aromatherapy.

What Isn’t in 4-Legger’s Products
Because what we leave out is just as important as what we put in.
At 4-Legger, we believe transparency is the foundation of trust. Every product we make is USDA Certified Organic — meeting the strictest standards under the National Organic Program (NOP).
That means our formulas are completely free from the harsh, synthetic, and toxic ingredients commonly found in traditional grooming products.
Below, you’ll find a breakdown of everything that never makes it into our bottles — and why we refuse to use them.
Synthetic Chemicals
Most dog grooming products labeled as “natural” or “organic” are not regulated, meaning brands can add synthetic chemicals and still make misleading claims. In fact, only 2% of dog shampoos on the market are truly all-natural and organic.
Why We Don’t Use Them
Synthetic chemicals have been linked to itchy skin, allergies, hormone disruption, and even cancer. They also contribute to long-term environmental pollution.
Common Red Flags:
-
“Derived from plants” or “derived from coconut oil” (these are chemically altered versions)
-
Caprylhydroxamic Acid
-
Coco-Glucoside
-
Decyl Glucoside
Our promise: zero synthetic additives — only plant-based, non-toxic purity.
GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms)
GMOs are crops like corn, soy, or wheat that have been genetically engineered for resistance to pests and herbicides. While they may help industrial farming, they come with environmental and health risks.
Why We Don’t Use Them
GMO crops are treated with toxic herbicides like 2,4-D, which leave harmful residues. These contribute to “superweeds” and contaminate soil and water.
At 4-Legger, we only use USDA Certified Organic ingredients — guaranteed GMO-free.
Avoid Ingredients That:
-
Are not certified organic
-
Claim to be “naturally derived” but lack organic verification
Parabens
Parabens are synthetic preservatives designed to extend shelf life by preventing mold and bacteria growth.
Why We Don’t Use Them
They’re linked to hormone disruption, allergies, and environmental toxicity.
We preserve our products naturally using organic rosemary extract and vitamin E instead.
Common Parabens to Avoid:
-
Methylparaben
-
Propylparaben
-
Ethylparaben
-
Butylparaben
Petroleum-Derived Ingredients
Petrochemicals are made from crude oil and are often disguised under technical names.
Why We Don’t Use Them
Petroleum ingredients often contain 1,4-dioxane, a known carcinogen. They can also clog pores, suffocate the skin, and cause irritation.
Ingredients to Watch Out For:
-
PEG (Polyethylene Glycol)
-
DEA / MEA
-
Mineral Oil
-
EDTA
-
Cocamidopropyl Betaine
-
Synthetic Fragrance (95% petroleum-based)
Detergents (Sulfates)
Sulfates are harsh foaming agents used for cleaning. They are cheap, synthetic, and found in most commercial shampoos.
Why We Don’t Use Them
Sulfates strip away natural oils, disrupt the skin barrier, and can cause itching, dryness, and irritation. Some are contaminated with dioxane, a potential carcinogen.
Common Sulfates:
-
Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)
-
Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES)
-
Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate
-
Sodium Coco Sulfate
We achieve a rich, natural lather using organic coconut and olive oils — never detergents.
Artificial Fragrances
Artificial fragrances are chemical blends that can include hundreds of undisclosed ingredients.
Why We Don’t Use Them
They often trigger allergies, skin sensitivities, and even organ toxicity. Instead, 4-Legger uses pure essential oils — real botanicals with natural aroma and therapeutic benefits.
Avoid Terms Like:
-
“Fragrance”
-
“Perfume”
-
“Scented with vanilla or almond” (unless stated as essential oils)
Artificial Colors
Synthetic dyes are made from petroleum and serve no purpose other than visual appeal.
Why We Don’t Use Them
They can bioaccumulate in the body and are linked to organ toxicity.
We rely on nature’s true colors — the subtle tones of botanicals and oils.
Avoid:
-
FD&C or D&C dyes
-
“Color added” on labels
Synthetic Preservatives
Preservatives keep products shelf-stable but can cause irritation or worse.
Why We Don’t Use Them
Synthetic preservatives such as DMDM Hydantoin or Phenoxyethanol can release formaldehyde and are associated with skin allergies and immune stress.
Our formulas use natural antioxidants and vitamin E for safe, effective preservation.
Avoid:
-
DMDM Hydantoin
-
Caprylhydroxamic Acid
-
Quaternium-15
-
Imidazolidinyl Urea
-
Phenoxyethanol
Animal-Derived Ingredients
We love all animals — that’s why every 4-Legger product is 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
No animal fats, lanolin, or byproducts — ever.
Our formulations are derived exclusively from plants and minerals, making them safe for even the most sensitive pets.
Artificial Thickeners
Some grooming brands use petroleum-based thickeners to create a richer texture.
Why We Don’t Use Them
These can irritate the skin and block pores. Instead, our texture comes naturally from organic oils, aloe, and botanical extracts.
Avoid:
-
Cetyl Alcohol
-
Stearyl Alcohol
-
PPG-5-Ceteth-10 Phosphate
Important Facts About Dog Grooming Products:
Artificial colors are synthetic dyes generally produced from petroleum. While the dyes may be FDA-approved for use in cosmetics, they do have linkages to organ system toxicity (non-reproductive) and are known to bioaccumulate (can build up in the system). If that doesn't convince you to avoid it, FD&C and D&C colors are bituminous coal derivatives that are continuously tested on animals due to their carcinogenic properties. VERY BAD & SYNTHETIC.
A nitrogen rich compound that promotes the healing of skin. It is synthetic or derived from the urine of animals or plants (like Comfrey). You'll need to verify the source of this ingredient given the high number of synthetics. NOT BAD but SYNTHETIC.
Note: Allantoin is considered a drug and should be regulated by the FDA.
Balsam is a natural stimulant, antiseptic and analgesic. It is great for muscle and joint conditions, respiratory conditions, inflammation and will help to naturally reduce cortisol levels. It is generally non-toxic, non-irritant, and non-sensitizing. SAFE & NATURAL.
As with all essential oils, using a high grade essential oil that has been naturally extracted is imperative for the health and safety of your pet!
While botanical extracts sounds like they are single ingredient extracts, that may not be the case. Take for example a cherry botanical extract - it may be extracted into parabens or it may be extracted into glycerine and water. Since there is no way to know, we've added it as a caution but noted they are likely natural. NOT BAD & NATURAL.
Note: If it is mixed with a synthetic, the safety of the ingredient can dramatically change.
Typically used in dog grooming products to adjust the pH of the product closer to the pH of your dog's eyes (pH 7 - neutral) to reduct eye irritation so the manufacturer can claim "tear free". Unfortunately, these same shampoos use ingredients that you would not want on your dog's eyes. So, yes they may be tear free, but the product is not safe and non-toxic! SAFE & NATURAL.
As a note, your dog's skin is better served by a more alkaline pH and you being careful around their eyes. Also, some dogs may have skin sensitivity to citric acid although rare.
A mild antiseptic, cleaner and disinfectant that is VERY drying to your dog's skin causing irritation to your dog's skin. It can affect your dog's nervous system and cause organ system toxicity. Many "dry" dog shampoos may use alcohol to quickly "dry" your dog. Yikes! VERY BAD & SYNTHETIC.
Derived from petroleum (not planet friendly - ecotoxic) with links to organ system toxicity with contamination concerns by PAHS - with links to endocrine disruption, cancer, bioaccumulation, and organ system toxicity. VERY BAD & SYNTHETIC.
Note: There are many different brands of petroleum jelly with a vast spectrum of ingredient purity. While we'd not use it on ourselves or our dogs, if you are going to use it, make sure you buy a reputable name brand.
A relatively new preservative. Let's first note that it is safer than some other preservatives like formaldehyde, paraben, and methylisothiazolinone preservatives. There is some evidence that it may cause skin irritation or allergies in some dogs and that it may have links to organ system toxicity. BAD & SYNTHETIC.
It is also is a sensitizer meaning your dog can develop an allergic reaction to it after using it for some time with no problems.
Note: This is a synthetic ingredient that is not allowed by Ecocert for use in natural or organic products. If the bottle says "natural" or "organic" and it also says "phenoxyethanol" you would be wise to avoid any products manufactured by this company.
We gave this ingredient a green rating but want to point out a caution. There are animal and petroleum sources so you will need to ask for the ingredient source wen you see this ingredient listed. SAFE but SYNTHETIC.
A synthetic combination of 4 glycerine molecules into 1 large molecule that makes it more moisturizing, added to a fatty acid under alkaline conditions - that joins the 2 chemicals into one new molecule.
It is generally regarded as a safe and effective moisturizer - certainly safer than the alternatives like polyethylene glycol (PEG) and triethanolamine (TEA). It is also approved to be used in ECOCERT certified organic products.
A detergent cleansing agent that produces a lot of foam. The name may be misleading, but sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate is not a sulfate. Sulfonate is related to but not the same as sulfates. In a sulfonate the sulfur is linked direct to a carbon atom where as a sulfate is linked directly to the carbon chain via an oxygen atom. BAD & SYNTHETIC.
They do however have similar qualities when it comes to propensity of being irritating to the skin.
It also has links to organ system toxicity.
Naturally occurring mineral that is mined and processed / purified. Absorbs, reflects, or scatters light (including ultraviolet radiation from the sun). Was commonly used in sunscreens but there is a strong movement to ban it as it is toxic to fish etc. It is thought to be safe when 99+% pure. We don't like it because it is ecotoxic. VERY BAD eventhough NATURAL.
This ingredient is where you have to put a lot of trust in the manufacturer to ensure they are purchasing a plant based high grade (expensive) source. If a manufacturer skimps and purchases a lower grade petroleum based less expensive ingredient there could be contamination concerns from hydroquinone. SAFE & NATURAL.
Natural = d alpha-tocopherol
Synthetic = dl alpha-tocopheryl

About Our Organic Shampoo
What Is The Difference In The Shampoos?
The difference is primarily in the bases.
- USDA Organic Base: Organic Aloe Juice, Organic Saponified Oils of Coconut, Shea Butter, Olive, Sunflower, and Jojoba, Organic Vegetable Glycerin, and Organic Rosemary Extract.
- Organic to Food Standards: Saponified Organic oils of Coconut, Olive, and Jojoba, and Rosemary Extract.
Does 4-Legger contain sulfates or other potentially toxic ingredients?
No. Our shampoo does NOT contain ANY of the ingredients commonly found in traditional pet shampoos. 4-Legger will never contain ANY of the following ingredients - you have our promise!
- Artificial fragrance,
- artificial colors,
- sulfates,
- formaldehyde,
- Cocomide DEA, MEA, or TEA,
- Cocamidopropyl betaine,
- isopropyl alcohol,
- Isopropyl (SD-40) alcohol,
- isothiazolinone preservatives (Methylisothiazolinone and Methylchloroisothiazolinone),
- parabens,
- mineral oil,
- polyethylene glycol,
- PEG-40,
- propylene glycol,
- sodium benzoate preservatives,
- sodium lauerth sulfate,
- sodium lauryl sulfate,
- ammonium lauryl sulfate, or polysorbates!
Does 4-Legger dry out skin and strip the natural oils from my dog's coat?
4-Legger will not dry your dog's skin or strip the natural oils. In fact, it will do quite the opposite! Over the years, soap has gotten a bad reputation because manufacturers who produce soap sell the glycerin that is developed during the soap making process (saponification). Glycerin is natural humectant - it absorbs water from the air and attracts moisture to the skin and hair. Only the highest quality soaps retain the glycerin. Other manufacturers sell the glycerin or use them in other products that they manufacture like lotions to treat dry skin as they command higher prices!
Also, these poor quality and mass market soaps usually have free alkali in them, making them harsh and drying. This is great for shelf life - and it increases the lather. It is also drying to the skin.
Free alkali will find every last bit of the natural oils in your dog's skin and coat and saponify them (turn them into soap), leaving your dog dry and "squeaky clean". Too high a coconut oil percentage in the formulation. the addition of artificial color and fragrance increases the probability that the soap will be drying.
4-Legger retains 100% of the glycerin in the product and there are no free alkalis in our formulations.
Why is the consistency of the shampoo so thin?
Great question. The short answer is we left out the bad stuff!
Here is the longer answer: The ingredients that make non-organic shampoo thicker are not allowed in organic products. These thickeners are inferior products (sulfates) that are less expensive, more used to what the consumer is used to, but pose health risks when used on your dog.
We can use vegetable guar gum to make organic shampoo thicker; but, it does reduce lather.
We're not thick headed - we chose lather over a thicker consistency! We know our customers value lather!
Can I use 4-Legger on my cat?
Can I use 4-Legger products on myself?
Absolutely! All of our ingredients are human grade and safe and non-toxic. We use 4-Legger products on ourselves and we get reports of customers doing the same.
One of our customers said that while he bought 4-Legger for his dog he began to use it in the shower- from his head to his toes and while shaving. Since using 4-Legger he hasn't had to add moisturizer after shaving - which he had done for over a century! Way to go 4-Legger!
My shampoo got cloudy when it got cold. Is it safe to use?
It is absolutely safe to use. As the temperature drops, jojoba oil may become cloudy and solidify. That is completely normal. It occurs from the hardening of the fats and waxes. Once the product is back to room temperature, it will return to its stable appearance.
Can I use 4-Legger on my guinea pig?
Yes, you can! A guinea pig's skin is very sensitive and more alkaline (basic) than a dog or cat so many dog shampoos will be very drying for guinea pigs.
Almost all human shampoos and many dog shampoos are too acidic for a dog or cat (or any small animal). When you use a product that is too acidic (the pH is 6 or lower), the protective layer of a dogs skin becomes irritated and causes them to scratch because they are itchy. Prolonged use of that type of product can actually destroy the protective layer and become a gateway for all kinds of skin infections and other conditions. That's why it is so important to never use human products on dogs, cats, or guinea pigs!
Is it safe to use 4-Legger on my puppy?
We recommend using our hypoallergenic dog shampoos on puppies. As with any product, keep it out of their eyes. You can do this by using a wash cloth to carefully wash their face.
How often should I bathe my dog?
It really depends upon the dog, climate, breed, level of activity, and of course how much they like to roll in muck! A dog with an oily coat may need to bathed more frequently while dogs with short hair or water-repellent, thick, or double coats can be bathed less frequently.
On average once or twice a month will maintain a healthy coat!
Will 4-Legger damage my concrete or pavers if I wash my dog outdoors?
If you live in an area with hard water, the hard water can react with the natural fats from the oils and create a white "film" on your concrete or pavers. The longer the oils and the hard water have to react, the harder it will be to rinse off - making it look like a white film.
To avoid this, wash your dog in the grass! If you do wash on concrete or pavers, we recommend rinsing it off into your yard immediately after you bathing. 4-Legger is 100% biodegradable, safe, and non-toxic. It won't harm wildlife or your 4-Leggers!
If you do forget to wash it off and you do get the white film, you can use vinegar to clean it off! Also, remember you don't need a lot of product for it to work! Go easy when you are pouring it out!
If 4-Legger is non-toxic why does it say "do not ingest" on the bottle?
Since 4-Legger's products are certified through the National Organics Program, we must also meet labeling requirements as set forth by the US Food and Drug Administration.
You could ingest 4-Legger and it it is non-toxic but it likely wouldn't taste very good!
All dog shampoo should carry this warning; but, unfortunately since there are no regulations that requires them to do so, they don't!
About Our USDA Certified Organic Healing Balm
How soon will I notice a difference?
Most customers will notice a difference after the first bath or after the first application of paw and nose protector. We have had customers tell us that after the first bath their dog wasn't scratching anymore.
There are a lot of factors that can make your dog itchy. Their shampoo is just one of those factors. If your dog is still scratching after use, you should look at their food, allergies, and thyroid health.
One of the dogs in our pack has thyroid issues. She has been helped by adding natural salmon oil into her daily diet.
My dog licks off the paw protector after we apply it. Is it safe?
Yes. Our products are safe and non-toxic and while some is licked off, there is likely enough left on the paws after applied for it to do its job. We suggest applying when your dog is winding down to go to sleep, after a big play session, or when distracting them with their favorite toy or a treat.
What is Tocopherol? That doesn't sound very natural.
Tocopherol is a derivative of Vitamin E. It is one of the few preservatives approved for use in certified organic products. Most of our products contain Rosemary Extract as a preservative; however, to maintain shelf life some of our products needed additional preservatives.
